These delicious, gooey chocolate brownies are an absolute win in my household! Super easy to make and simply appetising, they can be topped off with anything from crunchy walnuts to Oreos for a funky twist!
After many attempts at making a good brownie, this one lands first place, with the combination of rich and fudgy with the top flaking off almost effortlessly, all in just under an hour!
Total time: 55 minutes Preparation: 20 minutes Bake time: 35 minutes Serves: 16
INGREDIENTS: UTENSILS:
200g Unsalted Butter Square Baking Tin 20 X 20cm
350g Dark Chocolate Saucepan
3 Free Range Medium Eggs
250g Brown Sugar
50g Self-Raising White Flour
Optional: 6 Oreos, Chopped Hazelnuts, Walnuts or any topping of your choice.
Method
- 1-Preheat the oven to 190°C (fan 170°C, gas mark 5) and line a 20cm square tin with baking parchment.
- 2-Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl does not touch the hot water.
- 3-Whisk the eggs until pale and fluffy, add the brown sugar and whisk until thick - then gently fold in the chocolate and butter mix.
- 4-Sieve in the flour and fold in until the mixture is smooth of any lumps.
- 5-Pour into the prepared tin (now is the time to add your desired topping) and bake for approximately 35 minutes, until you see a flakey crust on top, there should still be some movement in the centre of the tin.
- 6-If your brownie begins to brown around the edges, loosely cover with baking paper to protect it whilst it continues to bake.
- 7-Remove from the oven. The brownie texture should be gooey in the centre (it will firm up as the brownie cools). Leave to cool for a few minutes, then cut into squares.
